When you talk about making a surfboard, this is what it's all about: the wet processes—starting with laminating a fiberglass-reinforced polyester skin to a polyurethane-foam core. No wet spots, no dry spots, no bubbles, no flaws. Surfboards are unique in the fiberglass field, because they are, for the most part, laminated clear. There is no way to hide imperfection. The reputation of Waterman's Guild is built on the most accomplished laminators in the world.
After lamination, a second coat of resin is applied to provide a sandable surface. It is important that the hot coat be thick and even for good sanding.
